A Jamaican is the fifth person to die in a motor vehicle collision in Cayman since the start of the year. Brendon Gayle, 25, who was involved in a crash on March 24, died in hospital on Tuesday. According to a report by Cayman News Service, Mr. Gayle was driving a Honda Stream and is believed to have veered off the road. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Road traffic statistics published on Wednesday, show that 2,633 crashes were reported to the Caymanian police last year. Some 328 of them were very serious collisions and there were nine fatalities. Cayman News Service says there are 36,615 registered vehicles on the roads and the sheer volume of traffic is contributing to daily collisions.
